David Beers NIELSEN

A few months before his death Dave was diagnosed with a metastatic recurrence of a prostate cancer that had been successfully operated 9 years earlier. He spent the last few months of his life at home, with the assistance of the Hospice organization. He died in his sleep in the early morning hours of 1 Dec 2001.

Jean André Nicolas ROLIN

Jean ROLIN was born 6 rue Clémentine, Ixelles, Belgium (Bruxelles 5). He and Esther CLADEL first lived on rue Saint Georges in Ixelles (number unknown; the house was one of a twin pair with facades made of glazed bricks). All three children were born there. In about 1919 they moved to 71 rue Beauséjour in Uccle (Bruxelles 18). Then in September 1925 they moved to the house they had built at 114 chaussée de Boitsfort in Watermael-Boitsfort (Bruxelles 17). Esther and Jean lived at the 114 until they died. Esther died at the Hôpital Sainte Elizabeth in Uccle. Jean died at the Hôpital d'Ixelles in Ixelles. The house was later occupied by daughter Françoise ROLIN.

Pierrine Esther CLADEL

Nom officiel Pierrine Esther CLADEL; nom usuel Esther. At time of Esther's birth the CLADELs lived rue Brongniart No 9 in Sèvres; Leon CLADEL was 46, Julia MULLEM was 38. Witnesses were Louis Hector GRILLET, 53, huissier, demeurant a Sèvres, Grande rue No 61, and François Pierre FLAVIER, 39, employé, demeurant a Sèvres, Grande rue No 23.

Léon Alpinien CLADEL

Came to Paris in 1857. Address of the Cladels in Sèvres was rue Brongniart (no number).

Julia MULHEIM

In 1899 (after Léon Cladel's death) Julia Cladel lived 24 rue Pavée in Paris (in the Marais district).
From Julia's age as reported on the birth records of children Rachel, Eve, Esther, and Marius one can conclude that she was born between 14 Jun 1842 and 20 Nov 1842; however the tumbstone in Père Lachaise Cemetery in Paris shows her birth year as 1843. The tumbstone shows the year of death as 1923.
In her novel "L'infini chez soi" Dominique Rolin mentions that Julia MULHEIM had ancestors named POZNANCKI who had emigrated from Lodz to settle in Rotterdam. In that connection the LDS archives (IGI Continental Europe) mention the birth of Nanette MULHEIM on 29 Sep 1812 in Amsterdam, Noord-Holland, Netherlands, daughter of Elias MULHEIM and Sara Jacob POSNANKY. Given the dates one wonders if Julia MULHEIM's father might also have been born to that couple. (The source of the birth record for Nanette MULHEIM is Registers van de Burgerlijke Stand 1811-1940, Amsterdam, Noord-Holland, LDS Film 0113484; the entire Registers are contained in 2533 rolls of film.)
Julia a obtenu un premier accessit de piano à l'Académie Impériale de Lille.

Sarah Marianne CLADEL

Sarah Marianne est morte à l'âge de cinq ans.

Rachel Louise CLADEL

At time of Rachel's birth the CLADELs lived rue Emile No 20 in Sèvres. Leon CLADEL was 43, Julia MULLEM 36; witnesses were François Victor LEFEVRE, 49, marchand charcutier, demeurant a Sèvres, Grande rue No 64, and Pierre Alexandre Célestin PLAIRE, 33, débitant de tabac, demeurant a Sèvres, Grande rue No 60.

Marie LAGRANGE

Marie LAGRANGE had no descendant, according to Thierry LAGRANGE.

Charles Henri LAGRANGE

Charles-Henri LAGRANGE had no descendant according to Thierry LAGRANGE.

Léon Augustin LAGRANGE

On 18 Sep 1884 Léon Augustin LAGRANGE was "employé" and a resident of Ixelles; this information is from birth record of his nephew Jean ROLIN for which he was a witness.
Although Thierry LAGRANGE does not indicate that Léon left no descendance, family tradition suggests he remained a bachelor.

Nicolas Joseph ROLIN

Nicolas Joseph ROLIN was born Nicolas Joseph BORLON and entered under this name on the register of births on 7 May 1811, because his parents were not married. An act of legitimation was carried out on 22 Jul 1829 in Ciney in which Nicolas Joseph was recognized as legitimate by Arrêté Royal of 28 juin 1829, No 85 "par le marriage subséquent de leur père et mère". Witnesses were Lambert ETIENNE, secrétaire de l'administration municipale, 28 ans, and François Joseph NAÔMÉ, boucher (or bourrelier), 22 ans, of Ciney.
The birth certificate of Nicolas Joseph BORLON/ROLIN has a note added in red ink in the left margin which records the legitimization, the same note that was added to the marriage certificate of Jean Hubert ROLIN and Anne Marie Joseph BORLON.
At the time of his marriage in Namur in 1838 Nicolas Joseph lived rue de l'Arsenal (no No specified). At the time of birth of Achille (1839) Nicolas Joseph ROLIN and Elisabeth WÉRY lived rue du Pont, No 992; at the time of Léopoldine's birth (1841) they lived rue Bas de la Place, No 919; when Nicolas Joseph died on 21 Apr 1854 they lived rue du Président, No 343.
The declaration of Nicolas's death was made by Charles BUYDENS, notaire, 48, friend of the deceased, and Louis HAUT (?), étudiant (?) notaire, 35, friend of the deceased, both domiciliated in Namur. Charles BUYDENS must be the son of Nicolas François BUYDENS, and therefore the uncle of Elise LAURILLARD-FALLOT (married name Elise LAGRANGE), the mother of Henriette LAGRANGE, Achille's future wife. Thus this a a conduit through which Achille may have met Henriette in Bruxelles.

Marie Léopoldine ROLIN

The 2 witnesses for Léopoldine's birth on 25 Mar 1941 were Léopold WERY, boucher, 35, and Théodore BRAIBANT (or BRAIBAUT), 31, perhaps "constructeur des ponts et chaussées" (?), both domiciliated in Namur.

His death certificate says that he died of "an ischemia in the carotid artery" (at the age of 72).

Estelle BEERS

Place of birth may also have been Detroit, Michigan.
